Another great read by Greyson. This one starts with a man and his dog.The man, Daniel Branson, is huge. He's 6'8" and built to match. He's also one hell of a nice guy.His dog, Lady, is a King Shepherd which is a mix of German Shepherd, Shiloh Shepherd and long haired European Shepherd. She's also huge. A big guy and his big dog. Branson and Lady are inseperable and Lady will protect Branson to her last breath. She's a Shepherd and thats their way.Branson takes his dog to the dog park where he plays ball with her. As they are leaving he sees a car on the road and figures they need help as they are stopped.Branson ties Lady to the fence because he know her size scares the crap out of most folks. To bad he didn't take her with him.Branson is somehow overpowered and put in the car. The car then takes off.Lady almost strangles herself but finally breaks the snap to her leash and is in pursuit. Unfortunatly its a lost cause because the car just speeds away. Lady is now on her own.Jack Stratton has been fired by the ever stupid by the book Chief Collins.A Chief Collins who apparantly doesn't like solved cases. A Chief Collins who was looking to get rid of Jack Stratton who he saw as a hothead. Hell. Jacks a better cop than Collins will ever be.Jack's recovering from the gunshot wound he got saving a friend and solving a case. The same case he got fired over.Jack's doing bail bond work to earn money. He's still Jack though and uses his brains.Jack's doing well at this bail retrieval gig. In fact he's one of the top men at retrieval. Jack still misses his job though but not the ever stupid Collins.Replacement is also working at her fledgling PI business. Her first case is for a neighbor who found a giant dog in her cat door. The dog is Lady.So begins one damned fine read. Just super. This one has Jack, Replacement, memories of Jack's time in Iraq, a murderer who is able to overpower some really big guys and stab them to death, Underchief Morrisey, the city Mayor, a Chief Collins who's in another State thank god, an animal shelter, a dog who becomes Jacks, old friends, new friends, Jacks Mother, Replacements past that still haunts her, Jacks willingness to wait on their relationiship, murder, attempted murder and Jack Stratton a man who solves the case and gets things so damned right.Just one awesome read. Five Stars and then some.
